The Pro's

Four fighters grilled on their leisure time, family matters and top fighting pundits.

David Rickels Bellator battler

Chase Sherman ‘Vanilla Gorilla’ UFC heavyweight

Belal Muhammad UFC welterweight on a three-fight streak

Paul Craig UFC’s Scottish 205lb ‘Bearjew’

How much MMA do you watch in your spare time?

DAVID RICKELS

I’ll tune in when I can. I wish I watched more, but I’ll tune in for certain fighters, like Chandler and Pitbull.

CHASE SHERMAN

If I haven’t seen that particular fight and it’s on, I will watch it.

BELAL MUHAMMED

I’m a big fan of MMA, so I’m watching any show my teammates are on and any UFC show. I love watching fights.

PAUL CRAIG

I don’t really watch MMA unless I’m cornering or it’s a big event. It’s good when I go home to turn off from it.

Is being married and having kids good for your career?

DAVID RICKELS

I don’t know if it’s good or bad for my career, but it’s been very helpful for my personal health and safety. I was too wild before this.

CHASE SHERMAN

It is always important to have a good partner and support system. As for kids, I definitely believe it gives us more motivation to work harder and be successful.

BELAL MUHAMMAD

It gives you a different type of motivation. You have a family to support, so it makes you work harder.

PAUL CRAIG

Yes and no. It’s really hard to juggle them both and my family miss out on dad time, but once it’s over, I make sure I spoil them.

What did your parents think when you started fighting?

DAVID RICKELS

Mom was scared. Dad never thought I’d do much with it. Now Mom is the super supportive cheerleader, and Dad’s just nervous as hell every time!

CHASE SHERMAN

They thought I was ridiculous. I didn’t even tell them about my first fight.

BELAL MUHAMMAD

My parents were not happy about it at first, but now they gave in and are fans.

PAUL CRAIG

They thought it was brutal and didn’t really understand it. Now they’re both very proud – even if my dad would never say it. If I’d let them, they would come to every fight.

Who is the best fight analyst in MMA?

DAVID RICKELS

Fight analyst? The crowd, or the fans on the couch?

Man, they always know what the fighters should or should not be doing.

CHASE SHERMAN

I enjoy Dominick Cruz and Brian Stann the most.

BELAL MUHAMMAD

If I have to pick one, it’s Paul Felder. He’s very informative and gives you a different outlook.

PAUL CRAIG

I like both ACB analysts Bryan Lacey and Frank Mir. They both know their stuff. From the UFC, Dominick Cruz and Paul Felder smash it.
