Four top pros answer five burning questions in the hot seat.
The Pro's
Q. Who was your fighter of the Year for 2017?
Casey:
- Ovince Saint Preux. He fought four times and is on a three-fight winning streak. He’s bagged back-to-back Performance of the Night bonuses, too.
Meerschaert:
- In the UFC, Paul Felder. It was great sharing multiple camps with him and he had an amazing year.
Kruchten:
- My Fighter of the Year is definitely Tony Ferguson.
Primus:
- I’m going with Max Holloway. He’s exciting to watch and you know he’s down to scrap and throw bombs!
Q. If you were a matchmaker, what dream fight would you make?
Casey:
- T.J. Dillashaw vs. Demetrious Johnson.
Meerschaert:
- Ben Askren vs. GSP!
Kruchten:
- I would make the Tony Ferguson vs. Conor McGregor fight.
Primus:
- Paul Daley vs. Michael Page, or Khabib vs McGregor. I think Khabib would expose McGregor’s weaknesses and utterly dominate him.
Q. What’s your worst habit when you’re training?
Casey:
- Eating dessert!
Meerschaert:
- I, and alot of people in general, need to be more disciplined in properly warming up, cooling down and stretching.
Kruchten:
- I definitely have a sweet tooth, so eating gummy bears is my worst habit.
Primus:
- Probably overtraining. It’s hard to rest and shut my mind o . I just want to train all day, as hard as I can, but I know rest is essential for recovery and performing at your best.
Q. Do you ever Google yourself?
Casey:
- Yeah, every now and then.
Meerschaert:
- Once in a while just to find new pictures to post on social media!
Kruchten:
- I do when cutting weight. The haters fuel me to always push harder and sometimes the stuff they write gives me a really good laugh!
Primus:
- A couple of times. It’s always funny and interesting to see some of the things you find out about yourself on the internet.
Q. Is faith important in your fighting career?
Casey:
- Yeah, I would say that faith plays a part.
Meerschaert:
- I need to have faith in my training partners and coaches so when that cage door shuts, I have supreme confidence in my knowledge and preparation.
Kruchten:
- It’s important in every aspect of my life. God is the reason we have the abilities we have, and the reason we are here to use those abilities.
Primus:
- Faith is everything in my fighting career! Not just my career, but in my everyday life, too. I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for faith and God.
