Six men who earned a reputation for getting stopped.

Jonathan Goulet: Achilles’ heel

‘The Road Warrior’ had bags of talent and heart, but the durability of his jaw couldn’t match them. With nine out of 12 losses coming by KO – six in the first round – he was often stopped before he could show what he could really do. Duane Ludwig was able to put him away in a UFC record six seconds.

Keith Jardine: Wide open

Though the ‘Dean of Mean’ earned some big UFC wins, he became famous for knockout losses after going down six times, largely because of his habit of dropping his right hand. When his dome was wide open to powerful left hooks from the 205lb division’s big hitters, he didn’t stay standing for long.

Alistair Overeem: Chink in the armor

If you’re a heavyweight, you need amazing defense allied with a strong chin to make sure you can survive blows from men weighing up to 265lb. ‘The Reem’ is a great striking strategist and managed to keep a strong guard in most of his fights. However, when his shield was broken and an XL fist found its mark, he was in trouble.

Bob Sapp: Quitter

The king of the freak show was all about the money. He’d turn up to fights to collect a big check, then drop and cover up in fear as soon as he was so much as touched by any form of offense. ‘The Beast’ lost his last 14 MMA fights and all but one were finishes.

Antonio Silva: Down

It’s been a rough few years for ‘Bigfoot’. After earning a UFC title shot in 2013, he’s suffered seven knockouts since as his jaw appears to be getting more and more vulnerable. Strangely he did manage to survive five rounds with Mark Hunt’s hazardous hands at the start of that streak...

Chuck Liddell: Melting chin

Though he was once uncrackable, as ‘The Iceman’s career wound down, he became more susceptible to getting decked. It seemed like any hard shot would end his night. After three brutal stoppages to Rashad Evans, Shogun Rua and Rich Franklin, the legend was persuaded to call it a day.
