With an asterisk against his name following a failed drug test, his bantamweight title defence over Irshaad Sayed at EFC 55 was downgraded to a no contest, and forced the South African to take a year-long hiatus. Pena successfully appealed, saying he had taken tainted supplements, and this should go a long way to clearing his name. Despite the layoff, he can return to action with most of his credibility intact, and now the Angolan-born brawler must be looking to the international promotions to test himself further.
