Fights of the Year: Edgar vs. Maynard
The first fight was a one-sided decision in Maynard’s favor, but the second and third went back and forth for two of the best fights of all time. They ended up tied on a win, loss and draw each, but ‘The Answer’ put a bow on the rivalry with a fourth-round KO to defend his title and hand 'The Bully' his first professional defeat.
Blockbusters: Liddell v Couture
Three title fights, two of the biggest stars in MMA history. ‘The Natural’ schooled Liddell with great game- planning in part one, but ‘The Iceman’ got his revenge with two brutal KOs. These huge bouts also helped launch the UFC into a new era of success.
Fueled by Hate: Silva vs. Jackson
These guys did not like each other, which meant they attacked with bad intentions whenever they met. Twice ‘The Axe Murderer’ destroyed Jackson with knees to score famous finishes in Pride, before ‘Rampage' gained his revenge in the UFC. There was never any love lost between them.

A passing of the torch between the two best 170lb champions ever. An awe-struck GSP tapped quickly when they first met, before becoming a far superior fighter. He embarrassed his idol in the rematch and was even more dominant in the rubber match.
15 Relentless Rounds: Melendez v Thomson
You’d be hard-pressed to find a closer and more action-packed trio of bouts. ‘The Punk’ and ‘El Nin?o’ each took a unanimous decision win before ending things inconclusively with a razor-thin, controversial split-decision in favor of Melendez, which just left us wanting more.
High Drama Aoki vs. Hansen
Aoki drew first blood in Pride with one of the only gogoplata submissions ever pulled o in top- level MMA. ‘Hellboy’ evened the score with a KO to win the Dream lightweight title, but it was the Japanese submission specialist who pulled an armbar out of the bag with four seconds left in a fight he was losing in their final meeting.
