Bypass your opponent’s block and pass to tap them with an arm triangle choke.

1: John stops Greg from advancing from side control by creating a frame with his left forearm.
2: Greg walks his hand up with his fingers, which makes his right arm fan John’s elbow towards his head.
3: Greg moves his head to the other side of John’s left arm to keep it in position for the arm triangle.
4 - To prevent John from reclaiming his guard, Greg reaches back with his right arm and blocks John’s far side hip.
5 - Keeping his head in place to stop John from recovering position, Greg comes up onto his toes.
6 - Still blocking John’s hips with his right arm, Greg jumps to the other side of John’s body.
7 - Greg lands on his knees and immediately sprawls his hips to the mat to solidify his strong position.
8 - To apply the choke, Greg grips his hands together, keeps his head close and compresses the neck and shoulder with his arms.
TOP TIPS:
AMATEUR
You can slide over your opponent in step six, with your knee on their belly.
REGIONAL-PRO
Grab your opponent’s shoulder with your left hand at the end of step two to keep it steady for a split-second, so put your head down.
WORLD CLASS
You can take your time and move your opponent’s arm in little steps if your foe is strong, so long as you maintain position.
