Counter your opponent’s single-leg takedown with a lasso.



1: Frank shoots for a single-leg takedown.



2: Ricky places his left hand on the mat for balance.



3: Ricky swings his right leg back behind Frank’s knees to sweep him.



4: As Frank hits the mat, Ricky catches his right leg with his left arm.



5: Using a strong grip with the fingers on his left hand, Ricky pulls Frank’s right leg over his left.



6: To keep Frank’s legs in position, Ricky tucks Frank’s right foot under his left armpit and underhooks his left ankle.



7: Ricky throws his left foot over Frank’s hip, with his right instep underneath to keep his leg immobilized.



8: Ricky clasps his hands together in a Gable grip and applies pressure by turning his elbows clockwise.

Get your leg as far behind your attacker as possible to sweep them.

PURPLE BELT

Keep your opponent close by keeping a hand on the back of their neck.

BLACK BELT

If your opponent goes to grab a double-leg, you have no chance of pulling this technique off. Sprawl back as quickly as you can.
