Drag a stubborn opponent to the mat with a strength-sapping heel trip.



1: Kenny has wrist control with one hand in the crux of Pedro’s arm, and the knee on the side of the controlling hand between his legs.



2: By bringing his left foot across, Kenny traps Pedro’s left heel so he can trip him as he drops his weight down and onto his left hip.



3: Kenny sits onto his left hip, keeping Pedro tight with his right knee and pressuring forward up Pedro’s butt.



4: As he hits the mat, Kenny’s momentum takes Pedro over his hips and onto the mat on the opposite side.



5: Kenny keeps the knee pressure forward up Pedro’s backside and rolls up to his base, continuing to control Pedro’s wrist.



6: Kenny floats out to side control and looks to transition into the next position.

TOP TIPS

ALL-STATE:

Keeping your opponent tight to you will make tripping them much easier.

ALL-AMERICAN:

By putting a lot of pressure on your opponent, you’ll make them carry their weight on one leg, which will also make the trip easier.

OLYMPIAN:

When you hit the mat, fan your foot out of the middle of the legs, place it to the outside of the leg and keep pressure forward and down to prevent possible guard recovery and submission options for your opponent.
