Matt Hughes only fuels his body with natural nutrition – so isn’t it about time you went all Robinson Crusoe with your diet? Here Matt talks us through his fight camp diet principles.

Breakfast:

Scrambled eggs or oatmeal with honey yogurt, usually with almonds. Matt: “I try to have almonds as my fat source.”

Snacks:

Fruit, plus maybe leftover steak or chicken breasts. Also, beef jerky. Matt says: “I try to get my proteins and carbs from actual foods and not rely on shakes and bars.”

Main meals:

Fish at least three times a week, plus lots of chicken: “I mainly go for chicken breast and try to stay away from red meat everyday,” Matt says. “But that is very hard for me as I love steak. I might have a steak maybe twice a week tops… Also, lots of coleslaw, broccoli and other steamed vegetables.”

Pro tip:

Matt says: “Don’t take diet pills. To me, diet pills solve the results not the problem. The problem is overeating and not enough exercise, the result is being overweight. I’m not a believer in diets that people can’t follow. To me a diet should be a change of life. People should go on diets they can follow for the rest of their life.”
