Sell out!

I’ve got a question, why doesn’t the UFC properly sell out and start officially naming events after sponsors? It happens all the time across the world. In the US plenty of college football championship games have title sponsors, and in the UK there’s always a soccer cup with some unwieldy corporate name.

I know on TV and the event posters there’s mention of the ‘brought to you by’ sponsors, but imagine how much the UFC would make from holding the UFC 172: Bud Light Blast, or something.

I mean, saying that out loud sounds ridiculous, but so does the GoDaddy.com Bowl and yet it exists.

The UFC kind of did something like it with the ‘Battle on the Bayou’ thing with Bud Light around Fight Night 25 a few years ago, but that’s exactly my point, I had to call it Fight Night 25 so you’d know what I was talking about. Plus it didn’t actually say Bud Light in the name, so where was the benefit?

Sure people would whine, but what don’t MMA fans whine about these days? Which reminds me, when did fight fans turn into such b*****s?

If you did it properly, yearly and, more importantly, didn’t use a terrible name, it might catch on and provide lots of money for the UFC, which will trickle down to the fighters.

Real TUF

That Craig Stafford who wrote in last issue saying TUF this season is the same as all the others obviously isn’t watching the same show I am. TUF 17, with Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen as coaches, is fantastic.

Finally the show has actually matured. So far I’ve not had to worry about guys urinating into fruit and only about what the fighters are actually going through personally, which I think most people can relate to. I can empathize with a guy fighting to feed his family, not so much fruit pee.
