In 2016, despite canceling two shows in a row, World Series of Fighting president Ray Sefo said the promotion is ‘making the right decisions for its fans’.
The Las Vegas-based promotion admitted it canceled its planned WSOF 34 event – rescheduled in Loveland, Colorado – because of the UFC’s first show in New York City that same night. WSOF 35 in Everett, Washington, was also axed when heavyweight champion headliner, Blagoy Ivanov, suffered an injury in training.
Many of the events’ fights have been rescheduled for the new WSOF 34, set for the Madison Square Garden Theater.
