In 2016, despite Anthony Johnson pushing for a shot at the 205lb title in New York City, it was Daniel Cormier who said he’ll have to wait.
After earning a rematch with the champion with a KO of Glover Teixeira at UFC 203, ‘Rumble’ demanded ‘DC’ defend his title at the promotion’s first event at Madison Square Garden, saying: “Enough of this waiting game that you or UFC is playing!”
The light heavyweight leader has said Johnson deserves to fight him, but put the brakes on a return to the cage in a response on Twitter. He also promised to stop the number-one contender again at UFC 207.
“U deserve shot. I’m not waiting! Sorry bud NYC won’t happen. But you can get it again Dec 30th. #downgoesrumble,” he posted.
- 20: Johnson landed 86% of his significant strikes to ‘DC’s head in their first fight and knocked him down, but couldn’t finish him.
At UFC 210 in 2017, it was Daniel Cormier who came out triumphant in the end.

TREVIN GILES (USA)
Forget about the Texan’s undefeated record across some of America’s best regional promotions, we just want to see him fight again to see if he can recreate the action from his epic war with Ike Villanueva.
FREDDY ASSUNCAO (USA)
The younger brother of UFC vets Rafael and Junior might finally be about to live up to his promise after winning the Titan FC title on Fight Pass. On a nine-fight win streak, he looks a genuine 155lb prospect.
