Jairzinho Rozenstruik once again proved he is more than capable of derailing a hype train as he handed Shamil Gaziev the first loss of his professional career in the main event of UFC Vegas 87.

After four rounds of action, of which 'Bigi boy' dominated, referee Marc Goddard summoned the cage side doctor in to the cage to assess Gaziev, after a conversation with his corner.

Ultimately, Gaziev could not continue due to issues with his vision and the contest was waved off, with Rozenstruik bouncing back to winning ways.

As he had mentioned earlier in the week, Rozenstruik knew he was in there to try and do the job against an up and comer and he did so. After four rounds of success he eventually got his hand raised.

Taking to social media, Gaziev gave Rozenstruik props and said he will be back soon. He said:

First of all congratulations to @jairRozenstruik, good job today. Got eye and nose damage in the 2nd round and couldn't follow fight plan. If anyone thinks it will break me, I will disappoint you, I'm going to return gym in the coming days and I promise my fans to get better."

In the co-main event, Vitor Petrino added another name to his unbeaten streak when he beat Tyson Pedro. Following the contest, Pedro made the decision to retire in order to spend more time with his family.

Muhammad Mokaev all but secured his shot at UFC gold with a unanimous decision win over Alex Perez. Mokaev cruised to the win over the 15 minute affair, never looking in trouble, the 23-year-old secured 30-27 on all three judges score cards and used his time on the microphone to call for his opportunity to fight for the title in his next outing.

Umar Nurmagomedov climbed to 17-0 with a unanimous decision win against Bekzat Almakhan.

Steve Erceg stunned the Apex when he knocked out Matt Schnell in the second round of their Flyweight bout.

All eyes turned to Vinicius Oliveira following a potential knock out of the year against Benardo Sopaj after a tough leg kick sent Sopaj back towards the cage prior to Oliveira coming in with a huge flying knee that instantly rendered Sopaj unconscious.

Christian Leroy Duncan found himself on the right side of another dominant win when he stopped Claudio Riberio in the second round.

Javid Basharat was handed his first loss of his professional career when Aiemann Zahabi claimed the unanimous decision.

Up next, is the monumental UFC 299 card. 'Suga' Sean O'Malley will face Marlon 'Chito' Vera in a rematch at the top of the bill.
