Chris 'The Bad Guy' Bungard has committed his future to Cage Warriors with a multi-fight extension.
The Scotsman's initial run with the promotion saw him amass a 3-2 record and even had a shot at the Lightweight title.
After turning professional in 2013, Bungard spent a few years on the domestic with the odd bout on ACB and BAMMA before signing a multi fight contract with Bellator in 2019.
In his promotional debut, 'The Bad Guy' was faced former BAMMA two weight division champion, Terry Brazier. In a result that shocked many at the time, Bungard submitted Brazier in the very first round and instantly established himself as a one to watch on the new look Bellator Europe scene.
He then dropped a decision loss to Charlie Leary before stopping Benjamin Brander in the first round to set up the biggest fight of his career, at that point, against former Bellator champion Brent Primus. It wasn't to be for Bungard and after loss to Aymard Guih he parted ways with the promotion.
Bungard then signed for Cage Warriors in 2022 and in his promotional debut, he faced Erick da Silva at Cage Warriors 142. In a three round war, the Scotsman was given the nod with a split decision win.
In his next bout, he faced current Lightweight champion George Hardwick for the Lightweight strap. Bungard fell foul of the signature Hardwick hook to the body but evened the score with Gavin Hughes in his next Cage Warriors assignment at Cage Warriors 152.
He then secured back to back victories when he faces former Featherweight title challenger Perry Goodwin in the promotion’s return to Newcastle last November.
This then led to ‘The Bad Guy’ securing the main event slot in the promotion’s first return in 11 years to his native Scotland. Dumitru Girlean caused the upset against Bungard but the reception the Scotsman received on his walk to the cage was incredible.
Discussing his reasoning behind re-signing with the promotion, he said:
"I've found a home here in CW. With five crazy fights in five different cities, it's been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, wars and finishes. I promise the next five will be just as wild. See you all soon. The action is in the juice."
