Cage Warriors 174 has received yet another change in proceedings, with Milad Ahady stepping in to face Thomas Paull following Jordy Bakkes withdrawal.
The pair will meet in a Featherweight contest, with Ahady stepping up to the mark on just over one weeks notice.
Paull enters the bout fresh off the back of his first win in the yellow gloves against Dimitry Solimeis at Cage Warriors 169. The 29-year-old made history with the contest, becoming the first ever deaf fighter to compete under the Cage Warriors banner.
After joining the professional ranks in 2015, Paull made a formidable name for himself on the domestic UK scene, building a 10-3 record and claiming champ champ status with Golden Ticket Fight Promotions before getting his first chance at the big leagues.
Paull made an appearance on the 2022 season of Dana White’s Contender Series, where he faced the unbeaten Esteban Ribovics. Unfortunately for Paull, he was caught early and was finished 90 seconds into the contest.
He then headed back to the domestic scene and was handed back to back defeats for the first time in his career, when he met Bailey Gilbert at Golden Ticket Fight Promotions 21.
Since signing with Cage Warriors, Ahady has made monumental improvements to his game each time he has walked to the cage. After unanimous decision wins against Antonio Sheldon and the gritty Tom Mearns, ‘The Baddy’ had a career best performance against Marcondes Bastos at Cage Warriors 156. Ahady was levels above the Brazilian and after a slick striking display, he finished Bastos with a body shot just over a minute into the second round.
The Cage Warriors 174 received another big hit, when it was announced yesterday that Flyweight champion Shaj Haque was out of his bout against Nicolas Leblond. However, matchmaker Ian Dean has managed to pull together an equally interesting contest between Leblond and the surging Amir Malekpour. The card will also play host to the PrizeFighter Bantamweight tournament.
