The Cage Warriors roster has been added to once again, with George Smith and Igor Wojtas signing multi-fight contacts.
Smith first fought in the yellow gloves back in 2019, when he went 2-2 over a two year period. After racking up wins against Jenaid Ebanks and Lukasz Marcinkowski, Smith ended up on a two fight skid when he dropped losses to Matthew Bonner and Mick Stanton. Following the Stanton loss, Smith found out he had an irregular heart beat.
After overcoming his health struggles, Smith returned to the domestic scene before stepping back into the Cage Warriors cage at Cage Warriors 175. In his return, the Manchester Top Team man faced Craig Rawlins and had his hand raised after tying up a tight triangle choke and getting the tap in the very first round.
Delighted to be back under the Cage Warriors Banner, Smith said:
“After a mad few years with my health, I feel in a great shape to make a run at the belt and I’m excited for that. I enjoyed fighting on Cage Warriors Manchester and can’t wait for more big nights!”
Wojtas competed for the first time for Cage Warriors when the promotion returned to Scotland, with Cage Warriors 171. Prior to his promotional debut, ‘Gucio’ spent the past decade originally on the polish domestic scene before moving to Scotland and competing on the UK scene from 2021. The 29 year old has already faced many athletes who are currently signed to Cage Warriors, including Iain Postlethwaite, Kiru Sahota and Cage Warriors Flyweight champion Shajidul Haque.
Upon signing with the promotion, Wojtas said:
“This is one of the organisations that I always aimed to fight for and I’ve always dreamed of the yellow gloves.”
The Flyweight is set to make the walk under the Cage Warriors lights once more at Cage Warriors 176.
