For Mark Ewen, a dominant display is his only option when he returns to the cage.

The Scotsman is back in action on September 28, when he takes on Alexandr Chizov at PFL Glasgow as he looks to bounce back from his first professional loss.

In his promotional debut, Ewen faced Claudio Pacella at PFL Newcastle. Heading into the contest, many pundits saw the bout as battle between two slick strikers, as fans eagerly awaited to see who would come out on top. Both men had moments of success over the 15 minutes but it was Pacella that claimed the unanimous decision.

Ahead of his return, Ewen spoke to Fighters Only and discussed the importance of not only getting his hand raised against Chizov but to do it in a way that will make a statement and show that he should be considered as one of PFL Europe’s elite. He said:

“I am itching to get back in the cage and it is paramount I get back to winning ways, not only winning ways but I want to dominate in this fight. I have left no stone unturned, ticked every box, getting back to myself and I truly believe I am going to come in here and absolutely destroy this guy. That is the mentality I have got coming in here, not only win but absolutely f**king dominate.”

In his return to the SmartCage, Ewen will fulfil a lifelong dream as he will make the walk out in front of a home crowd at the OVO Hyrdro Arena. However, the need to get back in the win column, and put on a monumentally dominant display against Chizov, is the Scotsman’s sole focus.

“Being back in Scotland, especially at the Hydro, somewhere I dreamt of as a kid, it’s very special but I am not getting too caught up in that. I am solely focussed on the opponent I have in front of me, Alex Chizov. I am going to go in there and absolutely dominate him and that is the only thing I am really thinking about right now. That is the only thing that is important to me, that is the only thing that I think about before I go to bed, when I wake up it is the first thing I think about, going in there and just making sure I win this fight. That is paramount, that has to happen.

“Regardless of where it is, it could be back in Paris, it could be in Newcastle, it doesn’t matter where it is. I need to go in there, I need to win the fight but it is going to be that much sweeter when I do win, I do dominate, get back to winning ways and it being in Scotland and it being at the Hydro, somewhere I envisioned and dreamt of performing (at) for so long.

“It's going to be a special night but I am not getting too caught up in that, I am solely focused on the job ahead.”
