Former Cage Warriors Featherweight title challenger Orlando Prins will return to the cage on September 20, in a 145lbs clash against the rising Solomon Simon at Cage Warriors 177.
The bout will see Prins back in action for the first time since he faced Harry Hardwick for the Featherweight title at Cage Warriors 172.
Prior to the loss to Hardwick, Prins was 2-2 under the Cage Warriors banner. After a tough start to life in the yellow gloves, dropping unanimous decisions to Tom Mearns and Samuel Bark, the Dutchman turned his form on its head and started a steady win streak with a decision win against Antonio Sheldon before picking up his first stoppage in the Cage Warriors cage against Bailey Gilbert at Cage Warriors 164.
Prins was originally set to face Milad Ahady at Cage Warriors 172 but following the withdrawal of Ahady, and Zafar Mohsen falling out of his title fight against Hardwick, in a last minute change to the card, Prins found himself competing for the Cage Warriors Featherweight strap.
The bout did not go his way, with Hardwick finding his timing and distance early and bringing a stop the contest in the second round by way of TKO.
If Simon can find a path to victory, it will be the Irishman's biggest win to date.
'King' joined the professional ranks early last year and has been on an impressive run ever since, picking up four stoppage wins and establishing himself as a serious prospect in the process.
After just one bout on the domestic Irish scene, Simon signed with Cage Warriors and has never looked back. After a comfortable promotional debut against Dorian Cliucinicov, the 29-year-old faced fellow unbeaten prospect Marko Sarasjärvi at Cage Warriors 161.
Simon looked good throughout the bout and landed yet another stoppage win with a third round arm triangle.
He then went on to face Ieuan Mackenzie at Cage Warriors 170 and in what was his biggest win to date, stopped the Welshman with just a second to go in the second round.
