Lone’er Kavanagh has big plans for his immediate future.

The unbeaten Flyweight prospect signed with the UFC on the back of a highlight first round knockout finish against An Tuan Ho, on this year’s season of Dana White’s Contender Series.

Only being three weeks removed from earning the contThe Great British Top Team man does not have his promotional debut lined up but when he sat down with MMAJunkie, the 25-year-old outlined the big plans he has for the near future. He said:

“For me, I've already told my manager Jose, the guys at First Round Management, that my goal is to become UFC champ within two years. So, whatever I have to do to get there, I'm ready for it. I mean, I'll take fights. I'm not here to stick about I want to get to the top as fast as I can, basically.

“So you say a year and a half that I want to be on that path. I want to be in the rankings hoping to be close to the (title) shot.”

Kavanagh’s performance on the Contender Series has been one of the stand outs of Season 8, thus far. The young prospect credits the team he has around him, which is headed up by UK MMA legends Brad Pickett and Ashleigh Grimshaw.

“An Tuan was a scary opponent coming in, do you know what I mean? He was also unbeaten and he was 6-0, got some crazy knockouts behind him. I just had a very good team to prepare for the fight, and it wasn't for my coaches, I wouldn't have got the result, I did.”

Current 125lbs king Alexandr Pantoja has looked seriously impressive in all of title defences so far. As much as Kavanagh would like the Pantoja bout at some point, he is willing to face whoever he needs to in order to secure UFC gold.

“Obviously fighting Pantoja would be awesome, I think he is a great figter. I think everyone in the flyweight division is a great fire but my goal is solely to get the belt so whoever has got it at the time.“
