1: Vinny is in top position by Scott has him trapped in his half guard.
2: Vinny moves his right arm underneath Scott’s right elbow.
3: Using his right hand, Vinny pulls Scott’s lapel out from his belt.
4: He passes Scott’s lapel to his right hand and steps his right foot next to Scott’s backside.
5: Vinny underhooks Scott’s leg with his left arm and grabs the lapel with the same hand.
6: With his free leg, Vinny works his knee between Scott’s guard.
7: Vinny kicks back with his left leg and drives Scott’s right leg forward with his underhook.
8: Vinny frees his right leg and blocks Scott’s hip with his left hand to stop him regaining guard.
9: Keeping his hips low, Vinny finishes in a dominant north-south position.

When you have an underhook on your opponent’s head, drive your shoulder into their face to apply more pressure.
PURPLE BELT
Grabbing your opponent’s lapel gives you more control over their legs.
BLACK BELT
To avoid getting caught in an inverted triangle, don’t leave your arm trailing between your opponent’s legs as you pass.
