The UFC is back in a big way this weekend but unfortunately, before UFC 311 could get underway on Saturday night, fight fans were reminded about how unpredictable the fight game can be.

Tonight's main event will now see Renato Moicano step in to challenge the lightweight champion Islam Makhachev following some devastating news on Friday.

People were starting to get worried that the challenger, Arman Tsarukyan, hadn't been seen during the weigh-in period until it was reported by Red Corner MMA that he had pulled out of the fight due to a back injury that he suffered the day before.

Dana White confirmed the news on social media, announcing that Moicano, who had already made lightweight, would be taking his place in the final bout of the evening.

The #10-ranked contender was looking to extend his winning streak by facing Beneil Dariush on the main card.

Dariush will no longer be competing but White did say that the UFC will be taking care of him after he made weight for his planned contest with "Money" Moicano.

Tsarukyan quickly posted the following message on Instagram:

"UFC and UFC fans, I regret to inform everyone that the news is that I had to pull out of UFC 311 with a back injury is true. This was the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my fighting career. I would like to thank the UFC for understanding and I look forward to competing for my first UFC championship in the future. Thank you for all the support."

Makhachev, on the other hand, shared the iconic quote of his that is on one of the walls at the UFC PI in Las Vegas.

"What does this title represent? It means you're the best in the world and if you're the best in the world, it doesn't matter who's going to be standing across from you. What do I say? No? NEVER. Let's do this!"
