The official weigh-ins for this weekend's UFC 312 pay-per-view card in Sydney, Australia took place early on Friday.
Just before the official session got underway at the UFC host hotel in Sydney, it was announced that the opening bout on the card between HyunSung Park and Nyamjargal Tumendemberel has been cancelled. It is thought that weight issues on Tumendemberel's part are to blame, and neither fighter weighed in as a result. No confirmation has been forthcoming as of yet from the organization as to what will happen with either athlete going forward.
All other fighters on the card weighed in. The event is to be headlined by a middleweight title bout between defending champion Dricus Du Plessis (22-2 MMA, 8-0 UFC) and the man he won the belt from, Sean Strickland (29-6 MMA, 16-6 UFC).
In the co-main event, two-time women's strawweight champion Zhang Weili (25-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) will look to defend her title against the unbeaten Tatiana Suarez (10-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC).
The remainder of the card features a litany of established Australian names such as Jimmy Crute, Justin Tafa and Jake Matthews.
