One of the hottest prospects in European MMA has been confirmed for the headline slot at Cage Warriors 187 which takes place in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday, April 19th.
Sean Clancy Jr. (6-0) will square off against Italo Gomes (13-4) at the Braehead Arena as he goes in search of his 5th consecutive finish since linking up with the promotion back in 2023.
The Scottish welterweight has put away every opponent he has faced in the professional ranks and was last seen in action at Cage Warriors 181 in November, where he dispacthed of the far more experienced Andrey Augusto by way of a crushing body shot.
LFA veteran Gomes makes his promotional debut and brings a strong grappling pedigree. The Rio de Janeiro native has racked up 7 submission wins as a pro and was last in action a year ago at Shooto Brasil where he finished Damian Pinas inside the opening round.
Former Title Challenger Returns at CW 187
A bantamweight contest between Reece McEwan (8-3) and Weslley Maia (10-6) was also confirmed for Cage Warriors 187 this week.
28-year-old McEwan won his opening 4 bouts in the organization to earn a title shot against Liam Gittins late in 2023. He came up short on that occassion and went on to drop a split decision next time out against Cameron Else, but returned to winning ways in September when he submitted Miguel Haro at Cage Warriors 176.
McEwan will be up against one of the most exciting fighter on the Cage Warriors roster in Wessley Maia. "Magic" has won 4 of his last 5 fights and submitted the highly-rated Alexander Loof in the opening round of his last outing.
Return Of "The Bad Guy"
Also in action will be fan favorite Chris Bungard (20-10). "The Bad Guy" will take on Latvia's Artūrs Leisāns (9-8) at 155 lbs in his 7th outing in the famous yellow gloves.
