Colby Covington hasn't taken too kindly to UFC rival Michael "Venom" Page's comments about him.
During a recent interview, "MVP" (23-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) declared his dislike of the former welterweight title challenger, stating that he would love to fight him at some point in the near future.
"Colby would be a great fight", Page told New York Post Sports recently. "I think the build-up would be great. I'd definitely love to punch him in the face."
Page recently picked up his second UFC win against Shara Magomedov (15-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) in February to round off a succesful first year within the UFC after crossing over from Bellator, whereas Covington (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) has lost his last two bouts and hasn't won inside the Octagon since March of 2022.
"No one can keep my name out of their mouth in this division or even in the UFC because they get woke points to say my name and say some threatening things towards me", Covington said during an interview this week with Submission Radio. "So, you know, I don't know. I didn't pay attention to it. I don't pay attention to anything he does. He's another irrelevant bum. You know, he was knocked out unconscious in the B-Leagues.
"You know, you've never seen me laying unconscious in the UFC Octagon, fighting the best fighters in the world for the last decade straight. So, you know, I don't really take that with much. There's no truth to that.
"You know, he's just he's not a good fighter. And, you know, he beat some one-eyed, glass-eyed dude (Magomedov). Like, come on, there's no honor in beating a one-eyed guy. The guy, you know, probably shouldn't even be fighting. It's a miracle that that guy is even in the UFC. But, you know, no reaction. Just another bum that's chirping that can easily get his ass whooped as well".
Michael Page built his reputation as one of the most dangerous strikers in the world during a ten-year stint fighting in the Bellator cage. The Brit compiled a staggering highlight reel of jaw-dropping knockouts during that time, but "Chaos" insists he would fall back on his wrestling to stifle Page should the pair ever meet inside the Octagon.
"Yeah, you know, if it's a five-round fight, I'm taking the life out of him" Covington said. "I'm going to take him down. I'm going to drown him. And I'm going to punch a hole through his face. You know, I don't like it when people, you know, say mean things about me. I the fight happens and that's what the UFC wants, then let's do it.
"He's another guy that's just...he's not interesting. He has no charisma. He doesn't draw anything. So, you know, we want to do good business for this company, the company that I love so much. UFC is the greatest organization on God's green earth. So, whatever the UFC says, it's the best business we're going to do. That's what we're going to look to do".
