Fighters Only : UFC 319 Weigh-In Results: One Fight Cancelled

The official fighter weigh-in ceremony ahead of UFC 319 is set to take place at the promotion’s host hotel in Chicago, Illinois today ahead of tomorrow evening’s blockbuster pay-per-view event at the world famous United Center.

UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis (23-2 MMA, 9-0 UFC) is set to put his belt on the line when he faces the unbeaten Chechen phenom Khamzat Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) in the main event in one of the most eagerly anticipated fights in recent memory.

In the co-headliner, former Bellator standout Aaron Pico (13-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) gets a baptism of fire when he takes on unbeaten British featherweight Lerone Murphy (16-0-1 MMA, 8-0-1 UFC).

Controversy as One Fighter Misses Weight

Bryan Battle (12-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) was the only fighter to miss weight for UFC 319, coming in at 190 pounds for his middleweight prelim against Nursulton Ruziboev (36-9-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) — a full four pounds over the non-title limit. Ruziboev made weight at 186 pounds.

At first, the UFC announced that Battle would forfeit 30 percent of his purse, continuing a worrying trend for the 29-year-old. But just over an hour after the scales closed, the promotion scrapped the fight entirely.

This is Battle’s third weight miss in his past six outings. The previous two came at welterweight, including his December win over Randy Brown, when he weighed in at 175 pounds. Moving up to middleweight was supposed to eliminate those issues, but Friday’s result shows the problem remains.
