Cage Warriors makes its return to Newcastle, England this week with a strong lineup set to take place in one of the promotion’s most competitive events of the year.
In the main event, Brazilian grappling specialist Nonato Junior (14-9-1) steps in on short notice to face former lightweight champion George Hardwick (13-3). Following the withdrawal of Hardwick’s original opponent Jan Quaeyhaegans last week. Junior, who has built a reputation for his submission skills, will look to add another finish to his record and stake his claim as a contender. Hardwick, meanwhile, aims to deliver a decisive performance that will reinforce his standing at the top of the 155-pound division.
The card also features a number of notable names. Scottish fighters Chris Bungard (21-10) and Reece McEwan (8-3) return to action against Simone Patrizi (7-4) and Elton Armindo (6-0), respectively. Highly regarded UK prospect George Staines (6-0) - recently signed from OKTAGON – is set to make his promotional debut, while Matt Figlak (8-2) makes his return in Cage Warriors’ trademark yellow gloves.
The event marks another major stop for Cage Warriors as it continues to showcase top talent from across Europe.
