Sean Strickland would probably take one look at this photo, nod, and say, “That’s it. That’s my ****** game plan, genius. I stand here. I punch you. You run into it. Welcome to physics.”
The frame catches the exact microsecond his punch lands on Anthony Hernandez’s face, delivered with the enthusiasm of a man explaining why oat milk is a scam. For two rounds, he’d been doing what critics call boring, and Strickland calls “winning.” Tap with the jab. Tap again.
“Bro, I’m not here to do backflips. I’m here to hurt you slowly.”
Hernandez keeps pressing while Strickland stays planted like a mailbox, and this fist showed up like unpaid child support.
“You see this?” Strickland would say, pointing at the still image. “That’s called consequences. You walk forward long enough, you’re gonna meet something.”
After the victory, he raised his arms and had an almost surprised look on his face, which was not too surprising considering this was his first knockout in almost two years. For his efforts, his post-fight interview microphone was cut for saying things only Strickland can say. Despite momentary censorship, the only quote that matters is the one written across Hernandez’s cheek and the line beneath his deleted win streak.
