One of the biggest talents in the Czech Republic is back to compete at home later this year.
Lethal striker, Matěj Peňáz (11-1), faces a tough test when he meets Bellator veteran, Kamil Oniszczuk (13-5), in a middleweight matchup at OKTAGON 98. Werk Arena in the Czech city of Třinec will host the battle on Saturday, November 21, at an event which will be a showcase of some of the best athletes the region has to offer.
Peňáz has been an absolutely devastating finisher in the promotion, delivering ten knockout wins since he transitioned from being a kickboxer in Glory. ‘Money’ is undefeated in OKTAGON, stopping Matthew Bonner, David Zawada and Alan Silva in his last three outings. It could be argued that his upcoming adversary is the best he has ever faced, so Peňáz will be looking to hit the jackpot once again and prove he is amongst the elite in the division.
Oniszczuk has been on an impressive run since joining the organisation back at the start of last year. The Polish all-rounder bested David Zawada over fifteen minutes before submitting Marek Bartl with an arm triangle in Düsseldorf. During his most recent appearance, he earned an important victory over Mick Stanton to set up this huge bout in November, which could catapult him into title contention.
Elsewhere on the card, Mateusz Legierski defends his lightweight championship against Ivan Buchinger and Veronika Smolková meets Ivana Petrović at flyweight. Jakub Batfalský also clashes with Ayton De Paepe in a featherweight bout and Tomáš Mudroch returns to action.
