Johnny Walker has his heart set on continuing his successful start to life in the heavyweight division by picking up another win before the year is out.
The Brazilian knocked out Mick Parkin at UFC 332 last Saturday in his first appearance since making the move up from 205 pounds, and he revealed during an interview with TalkSport that he wants to fight again before the end of 2026 – and that he has a potential opponent in mind.
“I’m back training and I believe I’m gonna fight on the last card of the year (UFC 335) in December in Vegas — that would be really good,” Walker said.
“I talked to the matchmaker, and he said he’s gonna see what they can do.”
“I’ve asked for Marcin Tybura for my next fight. If he’s ready for December, I would like to fight him.”
After an inconsistent run of results in the light heavyweight division, Walker wanst to build some momentum in his new weight class. The 34-year-old is in no rush to take on the division’s elite fighters, but says that he wants to be active so that he can adapt to life as a heavyweight.
“I want more experience before I take higher-ranked levels of fights, because I believe I have to,” Walker insisted.
“I don’t want to step ahead of myself. I want to feel more of the division, feel the guys that are not very high level yet, or they have more experience.
“Tybura has a lot of experience at heavyweight. He’s been there for a long time, and he was top 15 for a long time.”
