Umar Nurmagomedov extended his unbeaten run to 18 and claimed the biggest scalp of his career as he defeated Cory Sandhagen in the main event of an action packed UFC Saudi Arabia.
The card, in which many bouts went to the decision, saw many a familiar face and UFC newcomers alike, compete.
The main event, which UFC CEO Dana White had said was a number 1 contender fight, saw Nurmagomedov and Sandhagen compete in a 135lbs bout.
The first two rounds were fairly competitive but as the bout went on, the Russian grew into the contest and showed why he is considered one of the best in the division.
The final scorecards read 50-45, 49-46,49-46, all in favour of Nurmagomedov.
The co-main event saw yet another undefeated Russian keep his perfect record in tact as Shara Magomedov claimed a unanimous decision over Michal Oleksiejczuk.
Deiveson Figueiredo kept his perfect run at Bantamweight alive, as he also took home a unanimous decision win against Marlon Vera.
In one of only two stoppages on the main card, Michael Chiesa handed yet another loss to Tony Ferguson with a first round submission.
Mackenzie Dern walked away with a unanimous decision win against Lupita Godinez whilst Joel Alvarez stopped Elves Brener in the third round of their Lightweight contest to open up the main card.
The decisions largely continued on the preliminary section of the card with Sedriques Dumas, Jai Herbert, Sam Hughes, Guram Kutateladze and Shamil Gaziev all getting their victories on the judges scorecards.
The only two stoppages on the preliminary card came as Kaue Fernandes and Azamat Murzakanov defeated Alonzo Menifield and Mohammad Yahya, respectively.
The aforementioned win for Guram Kutateladze simultaneously saw former Cage Warriors Featherweight champion Jordan Vucenic lose his promotional debut with the UFC. 'The Epidemic' gave a valiant effort on one weeks notice but it was not enough for him to get his hand raised. After a good first round for the Brit, Kutateladze took control of the contest over the next to rounds to claim the unanimous decision win.
