A major flyweight title fight has been confirmed for Cage Warriors 192, set to take place at London’s Indigo at The O2 on July 12.
Reigning 125-pound champion Shaj Haque (16-5 MMA, 8-2 CW) will return to action after nearly two years on the sidelines to defend his title against rising star Jawany Scott (7-1 MMA, 4-0 CW) in a five-round main event.
Haque, who began his professional career in 2012, has held the Cage Warriors flyweight title since knocking out Sam Creasey at Cage Warriors 148 in December 2022. He successfully defended the belt in July 2023, delivering a dominant five-round performance against former bantamweight champion Michele Martignoni in Rome.
Injuries have kept the champion out of action since then. He was twice scheduled to face French contender Nicolas Leblond in 2024, but the fight failed to materialize on both occasions.
Jawany Scott, a GB Top Team prospect, has been on a tear since signing with Cage Warriors early last year. He submitted Jean Matos in his promotional debut in March, then edged out highly regarded Irish talent Ger Harris via split decision last summer.
Scott continued his rise with a dominant win over Davide Scarano in November, and in March of this year, he earned his first knockout victory in the iconic yellow gloves by stopping Jonny Touma at Cage Warriors 186.
"We're kicking off some big fight announcements for London with a title bout the fans have been asking for!" said CW President Graham Boylan.
"Shaj Haque has forged a reputation as one of the most technically sound flyweights on the European circuit, but he's going to have his hands full with Jawany, who's been one of the most active athletes on our roster in the last year."
"We know the flyweights always bring it, so I'm expecting five rounds of intense action on July 12th!"
