'Rowdy' snags new movie role

UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is set to appear alongside Hollywood leading man Mark Wahlberg in action flick Mile 22. Directed by frequent UFC event attendee and Lone Survivor filmmaker Peter Berg, it’s about a CIA agent played by Wahlberg who is stationed in Indonesia and is given the task of transporting an informant from the middle of the city to a getaway plane that’s 22 miles away. Rousey’s role in the film is currently under wraps, but you can guarantee it’ll involve the champ putting her fighting skills to good use.

‘Venom’s' boxing ambitions

Welterweight striking sensation Michael Page is interested in adding another discipline to his fight-sport résumé. Page already has a long, trophy-laden point-fighting career and seemingly would be a solid fit for fellow Spike TV fight organization Glory like fellow Bellator promotion hopper Joe Schilling. However, the 28-year-old from London, UK, told Fighters Only he’d be more interested in trying out his flashy skills in the boxing ring.

Jon Anik has toughman roots

Fans used to hearing Jon Anik providing play-by-play commentary for the UFC may be surprised to hear he also strapped up the gloves himself while he was in college. Anik recently recounted a story on the Three Amigos Podcast where he had to have a three-round fight against a fellow fraternity brother. He admitted that while he dreaded competing he eventually won a 29-28 decision, before adding: “I’ll probably lose my next fight when some UFC fan jumps me in a parking lot.”

White, Serra and ‘The Tooth’ keeping it real

UFC president Dana White, former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra and photographer Nick ‘The Tooth’ are set to have a camera crew follow them around for a new reality TV show. During a Q&A on mobile app Periscope, White told fans about the untitled project, saying: “For the people that love the video blogs this should do it for you. The reality show will be on TV. I don’t know where yet, but it will be on TV.”
