MMA’s most sought-after grappling coach, Pancrase Submission Wrestling world champion Ricky Lundell shows you how to tighten up your ground game with former UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir. Here, Ricky demonstrates a leg lasso from single-leg maneuver.


1. Frank (left) shoots for a single-leg takedown.


2. Ricky places his left hand on the mat for balance.


3. Ricky swings his left leg back behind Frank’s knees, forcing a sweep. 


4. As Frank hits the mat, Ricky catches his right leg with his left arm.


5. Ricky crosses Frank’s legs.


6. To keep Frank’s legs in position, Ricky tucks Frank’s right foot under his left armpit and underhooks his left ankle. 


7. Ricky throws his left foot over Frank’s hip to keep him immobilized.


8. Ricky clasps his hands together in a Gable grip (no fingers interlocked) and applies pressure by turning his elbows clockwise.
