This UFC featherweight might not like cooking but he sure likes eating
What are the leading five must-haves in your ice-box?
“I hate giving people props but my sponsor, The Fresh Meal Plan, is great. It makes all your food for you; the portions are laid out, and it’s super healthy and tasty. I’m not a guy who likes cooking, so that’s my must-have.”
What do you gorge on?
“There are three restaurants I regularly go to here in South Florida. One is a burger joint, one is a Mexican taco spot and the last one is more of a restaurant/bar where you can eat high-quality food while listening to cool music. I’ve had days where I’ve hit all three.”
What do you cheat with?
“A grilled chicken salad. I know that doesn’t sound like a cheat but usually my diet is that strict. Sometimes I’ll get a salad and one cheeseburger.”
Do you keep anything other than frozen peas in your freezer?
“F**king ice packs (laughs).”
What’s your favorite bottled sauce?
“I’m not really into sauces, so usually I’ll have whatever the restaurant or my brother put on it. My brother’s a phenomenal cook.”
What’s your favorite dessert?
“My grandmother’s red velvet cake. It is something to behold.”
What’s your own signature dish?
“I purchase Chick-fil-A better than anyone else (laughs). I also make a mean PB&J (peanut butter and jelly).”
What’s your favorite meal during
fight camp?
“That’s definitely breakfast; I can actually have a regular meal then. A small bowl of cereal and pineapples, oranges, bananas, etc.”
What meal do you eat after the weigh-in?
“I start with grapes and then mixed fruits. After that I’ll have granola and an all-natural vanilla blueberry. I’m not a big pasta guy. I might take in some tilapia (fish) or salmon. Maybe spinach leaves and as many vegetables as I can. Right before bed I might have a turkey burger.”
What food do you look forward to most after a fight?
“I never want to eat that much after a fight; I just want to have a smoothie.”
Which nationality of food is your favorite?
“Mexican. I like all the spice and chillies.”
