One of the UFC’s most striking heavyweight contenders explains why it’s important to keep things clean between training sessions
UNBREAKABLE MOUTHPIECE
“This mouthpiece has my eyes on as part of the design. The guys at Unbreakable are awesome. They’re great with everybody they work with at the UFC and they’ve taken care of me very well. I’m very happy with their products. They make the best mouthpieces ever.”
KNEE BRACES
“There are a lot of shocks that can happen in fight training so it’s important to protect my legs, especially the knee area as that part of the leg is often left exposed. I like this particular knee brace because it has two metal bars on the sides for support. It really secures the knee.”
SANDEE MMA GLOVES
“I like sparring with these because they fit very well and also because the padding is like a huge pillow on the top of the glove, so I don’t damage my sparring partners too much when I hit them. They’re pretty good, and safe.”
MAX-FREEZE OINTMENT
“This helps to warm up my joints when I’m having trouble getting warmed up at the right time. It also helps to preserve me from minor injuries like bruising and stuff like that. I use this and I feel better.”
LYSOL
“This is pretty important for my equipment. I can’t say I use it for all my equipment but it’s good for my knee braces, gloves, tape and shinpads. A lot of the guys will keep their equipment in a closed bag over night and the next day they smell really bad. This keeps your stuff clean and safe to use.”
HAND WRAPS
“I like to use long ones so I can wrap my hands very well and cover each part of the hand. I also use it to wrap my ribs up so it’s really good
and useful.”
ROBIN’S JEAN BAG
“This is a bag that you get when you buy jeans from this company. They’re one of my partners and I really like this brand. It’s much easier to carry all my stuff in this bag than it is in a sports bag, because a sports bag is messed up most of the time but with this I don’t have to worry about that.”
TWINS SHINPADS
“I’ve been using these shinpads for four years now and I’m very satisfied with them. They’re good for sparring, and they don’t bother me during the transitions between the ground game and the stand-up.”
18OZ FAIRTEX GLOVES
“I use 18oz gloves because I’m a heavyweight and these gloves make me a little bit slower than usual, which is good for my training partners. They’re also good because training with these means I can punch way better when I fight with the 4oz MMA gloves on.”
