Front headlock and strikes


1.    Steve has Paul in a standing front headlock


2.    He cocks his right leg back


3.    …and delivers a knee strike to the head. He ensures the headlock is tight

throughout and his weight is over Paul’s shoulders


4.    Steve releases his Gable grip and grabs Paul’s arm just abnove the elbow. 


5.    He passes the arm across


6.    …allowing him to still hold control but free up his right hand


7.    With his free hand he can punch to the head…


8.    …strike to the ribs


9.    …or deliver a hammerfist to the thigh. 


10. Note: This technique also works very well when your opponent is backed onto the fence and and cannot back away or circle off. 


Single leg and strikes


1.    Paul has a single leg position on Steve (from either a takedown attampt or from catching a kick). 


2.    With Steve on one leg


3.    …Paul can deliver a punch to the head


4.    …or a punch to the body


5.    He can also pull down on the head, further breaking Steve’s balance


6.    …and deliver a knee to the midsection


7.    Other options include a kick to the front of the supporting leg


8.    …or the rear of the leg. 


Rear bodylock with strikes


1.    Steve has Paul’s back and has both arms around his torso


2.    He cocks his leg back


3.    …and aims a knee to the buttock (where the sciatic nerve runs through)


4.    Paul tries to defend the bodylock by hand fighting and pushing down on the top arm


5.    Steve releases his other arm


6.    …and delivers a ‘blind’ punch to the head
