Twenty-five-year-old former Thai boxer Malaipet (right) defeated the durable Hawaiian Kaleo Kwan in the ShoXC ‘Elite Challengers’ event, held in California last month. Malaipet dominated with crisp Muay Thai, landing hard low kicks and flying knees to Kwan’s face. Though Kwan was the better grappler, he toughed it out and traded for three full rounds with the Thai.
It was a fast-paced and one-sided affair, but Malaipet couldn’t put away the tough Kwan. “I am happy with my performance,” said Malaipet. “But I guarantee I will be faster, better and swifter next time.”
