Former UFC middleweight Scott Askham hasn’t long been signed to KSW, but he’s already facing a big name.

Askham will be competing against former KSW middleweight champion Michal Materla at KSW 42 in Lodz, Poland on March 3.

The Polish MMA promotion is putting out all the stops for KSW 42, with a headline “superbout” featuring current middleweight champion Mamed Khalidov and light heavyweight titleholder Tomasz Narkun.

Askham rebounded from a two-fight losing streak and his subsequent walking papers from the UFC with a split decision win over fellow Brit Luke Barnatt at ACB 70 back in September. Meanwhile, Materla is on a three-fight winning run including victories over UFC veterans Rousimar Palhares and Paulo Thiago.

Materla has long been linked to inking a deal with the UFC, but appears to be settled at KSW for the forseeable future.

As per an official KSW press release, Askham said: “I came to KSW for big fights and this is one of them, I want to make a statement here. Materla is a big hitter but I plan on making him miss and making him pay. Expect fireworks!”

Tickets for KSW 42 can be bought from eBilet.pl and people can watch live from anywhere around the world on March 3 via online PPV on KSWTV.com.
