Adrian Bartosinski derailed Salahdine Parnasse's quest for three-division KSW title glory with an all-action performance at KSW 89.
Reigning KSW welterweight champion Bartosinski put his title on the line against current featherweight and lightweight champ Parnasse in the main event of KSW 89 in Gliwice, Poland, and delivered a performance full of power and persistence as he proved too strong for the Frenchman over the five-round duration.
Bartosinski happily pushed forward and used his size and strength advantage to good use as he forced Parnasse onto the back foot. In the stand-up exchanges, Parnasse was the faster man, but the undefeated Pole's strikes carried the greater power, while in the clinch Bartosinski used his strength to call the tune in the majority of the exchanges.
A highlight of the bout came in Round 2, when the pair engaged in a wild back-and-forth striking exchange that ended with Bartosinski partly disengaging, only to unleash a perfectly-timed jumping knee to drop the two-division champion. However, Parnasse recovered remarkably well as he avoided being stopped, the returned to his usual slick, composed self for the remainder of the matchup.
When the scorecards were totalled, it was Bartosinski's more impactful work that won over the judges, who scored the fight 49-46, 49-46, 48-47 for Bartosinski, who retained his title, improved his perfect professional record to 15-0, and handed Parnasse only the second defeat of his career.
The co-main event saw middleweight champion Pawel Pawlak retain his 185-pound title with a unanimous decision victory over former champ Michal Materla.
Pawlak looked a step ahead of Materla through the majority of the five-round matchup, as he earned scores of 49-46, 50-45, 50-45 for a dominant decision win on the scorecards.
Elsewhere on the card, former Olympic wrestling medallist Damian Janikowski registered the 10th win of his professional career with a unanimous decision victory over veteran Tomasz Romanowski, while two eagerly-anticipated debutants – Marcin Held and Madars Fleminas – endured tough baptisms on their respective KSW debuts. Held was stopped in the second round by Georgia's Rayl Tutarauli, while Fleminas was shut out on the scorecards by Andrzej Grzebyk.
