How to come out on top when you mirror your opponent’s attack

1: Both Fernando and Rafael throw a jab at the same time, but Fernando moves his head to the right to dodge the punch.

2: Rafael attacks with a right hook, but Fernando blocks the punch by covering up with his left arm.

3: Fernando returns fire with a right cross and leaves his arm out to grab the back of Rafael’s head and pull it down.

4: Rafael’s body is wide open, so Fernando switches stance and lands a hard left knee into the body.

TOP TIPS

FARANG:

If your right cross makes your opponent stagger back, the distance between you might mean it’s more practical to attack with a left kick.

THAI:

Make sure you use your hips to thrust your knee and strike forward instead of straight up into your opponent.

KRU:

When you slip the jab in the first step, you could also attack underneath your opponent’s arm with a right uppercut.
