Two of ONE Championship's top female fighters will go head to head with championship gold on the line at ONE Fight Night 14.
ONE Championship officials have confirmed that the women's atomweight division's No. 1 and No. 2-ranked contenders will face off for the interim atomweight title on Friday, September 1 as Stamp Fairtex and Ham Seo Hee go toe to toe for the gold.
The interim belt has been instituted as a result of Angela Lee's extended hiatus from the sport following the tragic and untimely death of her younger sister and ONE prospect Victoria last December.
Stamp has already held ONE's women's atomweight titles in two sports, having captured the promotion's kickboxing and Muay Thai belts. Now she's gunning for history as she bids to become a three-sport champion by capturing the interim MMA title.
The Thai contender's rise up the ONE ranks has been a remarkable one. Since being discovered by Rich Franklin on his ONE Warrior Series show, Stamp swiftly captured the atomweight kickboxing title, then followed up by winning the Muay Thai crown, showcasing her spectacular striking style and larger-than-life personality as she became a darling to ONE's fans across Asia.
Stamp then turned her attention to mixed martial arts and won the 2021 ONE Women's Atomweight MMA World Grand Prix to earn a shot at atomweight champion Angela Lee. But, despite a spirited effort in a highly competitive bout, Stamp's relative inexperience on the ground was exposed as Lee submitted her in the second round.
Since that defeat, Stamp has continued to work on her all-round MMA game, and victories over Jihin Radzuan and Alyse Anderson have cemented her status as the top contender in the division.
She'll face 34-fight veteran Ham Seo Hee, the South Korean campaigner and UFC veteran who has captured championships for DEEP Jewels, Road FC, and Rizin FF. Now she'll look to add another promotion's belt to her impressive collection when she faces Stamp for the interim atomweight title.
Ham is in stellar form heading into the matchup, and will step into the ONE Circle on September 1 riding a nine-fight win streak that stretches back to 2017. The 36-year-old has never been finished, with her three career defeats all coming on the scorecards after highly competitive matchups. Most recently, Ham defeated rising star Itsuki Hirata to secure her spot in the upcoming interim title clash.
Ham will be hoping that her significant experience advantage, both in terms of bouts fought and championship fights won, will stand her in good stead against her younger opponent.
