- WILLOW BARK TEA
Rich in salicin, – one of the first ingredients found in aspirin. It can even be used to thump a fever.
- BELL PEPPERS
While they don’t have quite the capsaicin kick of chili peppers, they do have similar compounds that can heal your hurt.
- SWISS CHARD
This leafy green contains methylsulfonyl-methane (MSM), which can restore healthy bodily tissue. It’s so effective it can be taken as a standalone supplement.
- ALFALFA SPROUTS
As well as being rich in antioxidants, this is another source of MSM. It can degrade during cooking so these are perfect for salads.

This not only settles an upset stomach, but will also act as a grade-A anti-inflammatory agent that will act against pain.
- BOSWELLIA
OK, so it lacks the glamor of black tea, but this Indian herb can be as powerful as pharmaceutical-grade anti-inflammatories.
- CAPERS
Not to everyone’s taste, but they’re the highest natural source of anti-inflammatory agent, quercetin.
- PINEAPPLE
The core is massively alkaline, which can help you heal. Also a source of anti-inflammatory bromelain.
- OLIVE OIL
You need unsaturated fats to heal injury and these double-team pain by also fighting inflammation.
- HOPS
You might not want to try and get your dose from beer, but regular hops have isoxygene, which is almost as powerful as ibuprofen.
