Stefano Paterno proved he still has a lot to give in the Cage Warriors Welterweight division with a slick first round submission win over Scottie Stockman in the main event of Cage Warriors 167.

Having not fought in the yellow gloves since 2018, the former Welterweight champion returned to the promotion in a tough match up against an inform athlete in Stockman.

The American showed why he has seven consecutive first round finishes on his record, coming flying out of the gates and immediately looking to pile the pressure on Paterno just seconds into the contest.

Paterno used his experience and pinned the bout against the cage when the opportunities presented themselves to take the bout back to a pace he would prefer. Halfway through the round, a failed spinning attack from Stockman led to both men ending up on the floor. 

Paterno then tied up a Dance and once he making a small readjustment to his position, the Italian got the tap in the very first round.

In the co-main event, Omiel Brown started his second pursuit to Cage Warriors welterweight gold with a second round Guillotine choke against Rafael Aronov. The Renegade man didn’t have everything his own way, but managed to work through the trouble to tie up a slick modified guillotine in the second round.

22-year-old Shrzad Qadrian now finds himself with back to back victories in the yellow gloves having stopped Emanuele Zaccaria in the first round of their Bantamweight contest.

Connor Wilson kicked things off to a flying start for Next Generation, with a number of their athletes competing on tonights Cage Warriors 168, with a comfortable unanimous decision win against Davide Scarano. The victory was Wilson’s first under the Cage Warriors banner as he now looks to push on in their Flyweight division.

Former Bantamweight champion Michele Martignoni showed he still has the potential to do some serious work at 135lbs after running through Raz Bring in the first round of their contest.

In the feature preliminary bout, MMA Fight Academy alumni Teddy Stringer picked up his third successive first round finish against Diego Dickson. The win now moves 23-year-old Stringer to 3-0 as a professional, after a lengthy amateur career.

There were also wins for Amaury Junior, Anthony Orozco, Matthew Camilleri, Sergio Gainelli and Jack Claffey

In the opening bout, Leon Armes managed to get the unanimous decision win against Christian Tosco, much to the Italian and his team’s dismay.
