James 'Jimbo Slice' Sheehan will have the chance to become the Cage Warriors Welterweight World Champion in front of a home crowd when he faces Daniel Konrad for the 170lbs strap at Cage Warriors 170.

The Team Ryano man has amassed an impressive 6-2 record with the promotion since signing with them in 2019, with his losses coming two Ian Machado Garry and Oban Elliott, who both now find themselves in the UFC.

The title fight comes for Sheehan on the back of an impressive unanimous decision win against Olli Santalahti at Cage Warriors 161.

Standing in his way on April 6th will be promotional newcomer, Daniel Konrad. Over his 9 year stretch as a professional, the Switzerland native has proved time and time again he is a constant threat in the cage, with 5 of his six wins coming by way of first round stoppage.

Having joined the professional ranks in 2015, Konrad would not make the walk again until 2017 but would only be in the cage for 3 minutes, stopping Raffaele Spallitta in the first round of their contest.

He managed to make the walk twice in 2018 before taking yet another two year away from competition but returned to proceedings with a second round submission win against Jeremie Fischer.

Konrad has fought twice since 2022 and currently holds a 6-1 record.

By contrast, activity has played a major role in Sheehan working his way through the Cage Warriors Welterweight division.

Although his promotional tenure got off to a rough, losing his promotional debut to a debuting Ian Machado Garry, 'Jimbo Slice' quickly found his form in the yellow gloves and build a solid five fight win streak with notable wins against former title challenger Omiel Brown and Cage Warriors veteran Jamie Richardson.

Sheehan then dropped a decision to Elliott at Cage Warriors 153 before returning to winning ways against Santalahti last time out.

The Welterweight is now almost synonimous with Irish fighters, with the likes of Ian Machado Garry and Rhys McKee both holding the title in recent years, before signing with the UFC.

The crowd inside the Simmonscourt RDS will no doubt bring the hostile atmosphere for Konrad and be backing one of their own to take Cage Warriors gold.

The bout has been added to what is already a stellar card, with the likes Irishmen Adam Shelley, Decky MacAleenan and Taka Mhandu all returning to the Cage Warriors cage and Scott Harvey, Eimear Darcy and Ciaran Brady all making their promotional debut.
