Wilson Reis will make the walk to the Cage Warriors cage once again when he faces Bruno Souza at Cage Warriors 173.

The two UFC veterans will face off in a Featherweight contest on June 7 at the Sycuan Casino Resort as the promotion head back San Deigo for the second time in 2024, amidst a busy European schedule.

The former UFC title challenger, Reis, has shown time and time again that age is just a number, as he continues to build an impressive run of form under the Cage Warriors banner.

After parting ways with the UFC in 2019, Reis explored free agency before opting to sign with Cage Warriors in 2022. In his first fight in the famous yellow gloves, the 39-year-old picked up a split decision victory against Jeremiah Labiano before going on to also beat Tuomas Grönvall and Johnny Campbell within his first year of signing with the promotion.

He was then handed his only loss, thus far, under the Cage Warriors banner when he dropped a split decision against Trevin Jones but bounced back to winning ways against Toby Misech.

In his 28 wins, Reis has never stopped an opponent by way of strikes but came extremely close in his last outing against when he caught Misech with a huge shot in the first round that sent him falling to the mat. Once on the mat, Reis relied on his slick submission game to tie up a Triangle choke and get the tap.

After losing his professional MMA debut in 2016, ‘The Tiger’ build an impressive 10 fight unbeaten run that ultimately landed him at shot with the UFC. However, things did not go to plan for Souza, as he was handed back to back defeats against Melsik Baghdasaryan and Luis Saldana saw the Brazilian cut from the promotion.

Although having competed only once a year in mixed martial arts for the last two year, Souza has been extremely active on the karate scene, amassing a 3-3 record on Karate Combat. The Reis bout will mark his first bout for Cage Warriors.
