There was some drama at today's Cage Warriors 174 weigh-ins with two athletes missing weight at the first time of asking, and one of them set to compete in the PrizeFighter Tournament.
Weslley Maia initially came in at 139.1lbs, ahead of his Bantamweight semi-final contest against Shirzad Qadrian but managed to get down to 135.8lbs, so the bout will still go ahead. The only other weight miss was Ryan Shelley, who tipped the scales just 0.1lbs heavier than he needed to be but quickly dropped the excess weight.
The busy card will feature a plethora of well known names, with final bout of the evening seeing the two victorious semi-finalists of the PrizeFighter tournament square off to see who will be crowned the overall winner and line themself up with the next title shot against Liam Gittins.
The co-main event sees the return of Jordan Vucenic to the Indigo at The O2 when he faces off against Adrian Kepa in a 159lbs Catchweight contest. Both men come into the contest on the back of second round stoppage victories, with Vucenic looking to add a fourth win to his impressive run of form and Kepa looking to make a statement in his Cage Warriors debut.
In just their second and third fight in the famous yellow gloves, respectively, Jawany Scott and Ger Harris find themselves extremely high up the main card, as they square off in a Flyweight bout. After originally meant to be facing Yannick Bahati, former Middleweight champion James Webb will now take on Adam Biegański in a Light Heavyweight bout.
In what promises to be an extremely entertaining Featherweight bout, Nik Bagley returns to the cage for the first time in nine months as he faces his most experienced opponent to date, in the form of Irishman Ryan Shelley. Closing out the main card, Milad Ahady steps in on short notice to fight the inspirational Thomas Paull in a 145lbs bout.
Elsewhere on the card, Tommy Brunning, Eimear Darcy and Jordan Little all shone in their professional, and promotional, debuts. The trio will be hoping they can continue their perfect start to professional life when they face Gheorghe Grozav, Camilla Bergstrøm and Daniel Crooks-May.
