The €1 million Tipsport Gamechanger lightweight tournament now has two more semi-finalists, following an exciting night in Slovakia at OKTAGON 59.
The 10 bout fight card took place on Saturday night (July 20) as the promotion took their ‘Summer Party’ to the Peugeot Arena, Bratislava.
In the main event, OKTAGON Lightweight champion Ronald Paradeiser booked his space in the semi-final in impressive style. The Slovakian native went the distance with former KSW champion Daniel Torres but never once looked in trouble across the full 15 minutes. The reach advantage ‘Rony’ had was apparent immediately and the champion used it to keep Torres at range.
Losene Keita continued to look unbeatable in his co-main event bout against Predrag Bogdanović. Prior to the contest, Bogdanović had openly discussed the fact he felt Keita was the perfect match up for him but ‘Black Panther’ once again displayed his impressive grappling skillset and with just seconds of the second round left, Keita uncorked a brutal body punch which folded Bogdanović and the 26-year-old claimed his spot in the semi-final.
Elsewhere on the card, MMA veteran Ivan Buchinger picked up his 43rd victory as a professional when he submitted Lukasz Rajewski in the second round of their Lightweight contest, in what could be considered one of the Slovakian’s greatest ever performances. Lucia Szabová continued her perfect run as a professional when she defeated Aitana Alvarez and moved to 8-0.
Having originally been slated to headline the card in a rematch against Felipe Lima for the Bantamweight championship, Jonas Magard instead faced Bellator veteran Josh Hill, following Lima’s call up to the UFC. ‘Shark’ outworked Hill over their three round contest to claim the unanimous decision win. In one of the standout performances of the night, Milan Ďatelinka defeated Ondřej Raška in just 14 seconds of their Middleweight contest.
