Lerone Murphy will back in action on October 26, when he takes on Dan Ige at UFC 308.

They should have originally met in February this year, but the bout was postponed due to Murphy picking up an injury. Since the original bout should’ve took place, both men have competed, with Murphy beating Edson Barbosa and Ige fighting twice; with a win against Andre Fili before stepping in on just a few hours notice against Diego Lopes.

The pair both find themselves just outside of the top 10 of the Featherweight division, with Murphy sitting 11th and Ige sitting 14th in the rankings.

2024 marks Murphy’s fifth year in the UFC, with ‘The Miracle’ still unbeaten in the promotion. In his debut inside the octagon, Murphy faced the vastly more experienced Zubaira Tukhugov at UFC 242. The two battled it out over three rounds with the judges left torn as to who was the victor. One went 29-28 in favour Murphy, one 29-28 in favour of Thukhugov and the third in final judge ruling the bout 28-28, meaning the contest was ruled a draw.

Since then, the Manchester man has been on a tear and currently finds himself on a 6 fight win streak.

Although joining the UFC only a year before Murphy, Ige has been extremely active since stepping in the octagon, with the upcoming bout being his 18th under the UFC banner. After losing his promotional debut, ‘50K’ then amassed a 6 fight win streak. His formed dipped somewhat after that, going 1-4 in his next 5 fights. Since then, his has went 3-2 in his most recent five contests.

The Featherweight bout is one of a number of big fights that have been announced for the October 26 card. The fight night will be headlined with a Featherweight title fight, with Ilia Topuria looking to make this first defence of his title against the BMF and number 2 ranked Max Holloway.
