Cage Warriors 177 has just been turned up a notch two intriguing matchups being added to the Unplugged card.
The fight night will take place in front of a specially invited audience on September 20 at the BEC Arena, just one day before the promotion’s Cage Warriors 178 card.
Former Cage Warriors Academy two weight champion Rhi Rhi Hudson will return to the cage for her second bout in as many months against as she takes on Alish Smith.
Hudson was initially meant to join the professional ranks last year but it took until July 2024 before she would make the walk, having had three opponents pull out of bouts against her.
When she eventually managed to make her debut, ‘The Canon’ made a blistering start to her career as she ran through Jennifer Trioreau in just 13 seconds at Cage Warriors 174.
Smith will make the pull on the yellow gloves for the first time when she competes on September 20. After a tough start to professional life, picking up back to back unanimous decision losses in her first two bouts, the Australian has completely turned the tide on her form and has since picked up two, second round stoppage wins. Smith now resides in England, fighting out of Grant Combat Academy, the home of former Cage Warriors Lightweight and Welterweight title challenger Jack Grant.
The third bout announced for the card is a Light Heavyweight contest between promotional debutant Farshad Nazarnia and Frenchman Nell Ariano.
After learning his craft on the domestic scene, and picking up a title in the process, the 7-2 prospect now gets his first chance to perform under the lights of a major promotion. After losing his professional debut in 2021 to Angus Hewett, Nazarnia built a steady four fight win streak before coming up short against the vastly more experienced Roan Crocker at Cage Warriors Academy Wales 10. Since the loss, the Light Heavyweight has built another impressive win streak and comes into the bout on the back of three wins.
Ariano first competed for Cage Warriors when the promotion returned to Glasgow with Cage Warriors 171, when he faced Scotsman Jamie Macdonald. Unbothered at the fact he was fighting in his opponent’s home country, Ariano went out and silenced the Scottish crowd as he stopped Macdonald in the second round of their bout.
In the main event, Cage Warriors Welterweight champion James Sheehan will look to defend his 170lbs title against previous holder of the belt, Giannis Bachar. The Greek native will be looking to reclaim Cage Warriors gold, having never lost the belt in the cage.
