Stefano Paternò closed out another memorable night in Italy for Cage Warriors by delivering a statement performance on Saturday.

In the main event, the former champion ended CW 179 with a one-shot knockout over Jorge Bueno in Rome.

His third consecutive win in the yellow gloves this year was a devastating display of his power which he said in his post-fight interview, is something he's been working on.

"Yes, a lot. I know I'm improving a lot with my power and you can see it in the fight."

Paternò has already achieved great things in Cage Warriors but getting the chance to headline an event in his home country was special for him, even if it came with some additional stress.

"This fight I had so much pressure. It was a very strong emotion to fight here and I felt way more stressed than when I fought in Manchester or Prague or other cities."

Though he felt the weight of being the headliner in Rome, it was worth it to experience the backing of the home crowd who rallied around their man from start to finish.

"That's amazing. Three times always, they say Stefano and then at the end of the fight, they scream UFC so I think everyone in Italy hope that I will finally get my shot so let's see."

Having already held gold in the promotion during his run with Cage Warriors, Paternò hopes that his current six-fight win streak will see him finally get a shot in the UFC.

He's clearly one of the best fighters on the European scene right now and with his performance on Saturday night, he's only getting more dangerous.

"I hope. I'm working for this since I was 16. I fight as a professional since I was 16, it's a work of 12 years as a professional, almost 13 years, and I hope to start officially my journey when I will do my first fight in UFC."
